Lynette A. (Heldt) Shock, 59, Cando, ND, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Towner County Living Center in Cando after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 10:30 am at Christian Fellowship Church, Cando, ND, with Rev. Les Koenig officiating. Visitation will be held at Christian Fellowship Church, Cando, ND, on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm with a 7 pm Prayer Service and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Cando. Casket bearers will be Corey Shock, Darin Shock, Matthew Shock, Michael Shock. Vic Risovi and Travis Risovi. Music will be from Catherine Anfinson and Laona Eggl.

Lynette was born in Cando, ND on October 16, 1953 to John W. (Jack) and Delores (Martz) Heldt. She attended school in Egeland, ND. After high school she attended Trinity School of Nursing in Minot, ND. Lynette married the love of her life, Gary Shock on March 9, 1973. Together they had two children, Traci and Travis (TJ).

Lynette loved her job as an RN and spent 40 years caring for patients in Cando and the surrounding area.

She is survived by her husband, Gary, children Traci (Jason) Lura and Travis (TJ) (special friend Jenn), granddaughters Cassy, Baylee, and Jaedyn, mother Delores, mother-in-law Peggy, and sisters Cheryl (Terry) Kulik and Pat (Steve) Cook. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack, her grandparents, and her father-in-law.

Gary, Traci and TJ, along with Delores, Cheryl, Pat and families, I am so sad to hear about Lynette and want to send my sympathy to all of you.  Lynette was one of those special cousins that we spent alot of time with growing up.  I don't ever remember her being in a bad mood and always having that smile on her face and a little laugh in her voice.  She will be so sadly missed.  Just remember all of the great times with her and that will put a smile on your face as well.  Sorry I won't be able to make it, but you will all be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow.  Hugs to all!  Love Connie Boe

I feel so blessed to have had Lynette as my beautiful cousin. She was so strong through her journey with cancer. We should all be so brave! Thank you for letting me share these last days with her. They are and always will be part of my memories. May God keep you in His care in the days ahead. There will be times that seem unbearable, but just remember all the wonderful times and they will carry you through! I greatly admired my cousin Lynette. I remember her being in Minot & going to nursing school. Because of Lynette,  as a teenager I became a candy striper and ended up in health care as a pharmacist. She was always so kind to me. I will miss her. Jeanne Horner.



I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to Lynette's family and friends.  I attended Trinity School of Nursing with Lynette; we were in the same class and lived in the same hallway of the dormitory. Lynette was called to be a nurse and had the natural compassion, caring, comfort and expertise to be a very, very good one.  Lynette's very last clinical day as a student nurse ended with I and a few others cutting up her student uniform while she was wearing it!  She ran across the street and into the nurses dorm holding her uniform together! She laughed so hard yet chided us in good fun. Classmates like Lynette helped make all of us become good nurses in every way. I am thankful to God for giving us the life of Lynette Shock.
