Marlene (Bergdahl)
Berge
Jul 29, 1932 — Dec 29, 2016
Fargo
Marlene Bergdahl was born in Cando on July 29, 1932, to Alfred and Elsie (Carlson) Bergdahl. She attended and graduated from Cando High School. Marlene married Floyd Berge on October 14, 1961, at the Cando Lutheran Church. Marlene worked as a receptionist at Baker Electric in Cando until their first daughter, Ann, was born in 1964. She then took care of her family and home while her daughters were in school, and returned to her previous position at Baker Electric after their youngest daughter, Mari Lynn, graduated from high school in 1986. Marlene lived in Cando until 2010, when she and Floyd moved to Fargo to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Marlene enjoyed her bowling league and her Homemaker's club meetings. She was a 4-H leader for the Country Pals 4-H club for many years. During election years she volunteered to work at the election polls. She enjoyed sewing and many different types of crafts. However, her real specialty was cooking and baking. The Berge home was never without homemade cookies. Friends and relatives also frequently found themselves recipients of plates of cookies or bars. She especially loved having "tea parties" with her granddaughters.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 55 years, Floyd; daughters Ann (PJ) Brown of Ham Lake, MN, and Mari Lynn (Mike) Borr of Fargo, ND; granddaughters Katherine Brown of Ham Lake, MN, and Victoria Brown of Ham Lake, MN; sister Delores Lyons of Grand Rapids, MN; sister-in-law Arlene Bergdahl of Cando, ND; and many loving nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Elsie (Carlson) Bergdahl, and siblings Ray Bergdahl, Floyd Bergdahl, VeOra Fosaaen, and Joyce Bergdahl.
