Mary Jo Hannesson, 66, of Rolla, N.D., passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando, ND. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Cando, ND with Pastor Rick Craig officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Music will be provided by Darin Otto and the Salem Mennonite Singers.

Mary Jo was born to Marino and Caroline (Friet) Hannesson in Grafton, ND on April 28, 1952. She grew up in Hamilton, ND and graduated from Cavalier High School. She attended Mayville State College and began her teaching career in Dunseith, ND eventually teaching in Alaska, Walhalla and for twenty-four years at Belcourt. She served as a Methodist Lay Minister for the communities of Rolla, Rock Lake and Cando from 2008 through 2009. She then began teaching at Cando until her retirement in 2018.

Mary Jo is survived by her brothers, Jay (Rita) Hannesson of Fargo, ND and Larry Hannesson of Fairbanks, Alaska. She was preceded in death by her parents.
