Mavis Maxine Heisler, 95, Cando, ND, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the Towner County Living Center in Cando, ND.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando, ND at 1:00 PM with Fr. Daniel Musgrave officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Cando, ND.

Mavis was born on September 7, 1927 to Harry Eugene Cissner and Beatrice Mae Sonneborn in Starkweather, ND.  Mavis attended school at Starkweather through the 8 ^th grade.  She married Matthew Heisler on June 30, 1947 at the Starkweather Catholic Church in Starkweather, ND.  Matt and Mavis farmed in the Starkweather area until 1953, and then moved to Cando, ND.  Mavis did childcare and was a housewife.  Mavis's many hobbies included crafting, reading, gardening, camping, taking pictures, writing and drawing.  She entered the Towner County Living Center in 2014.  Mavis was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cando, ND.

Mavis is survived by her three daughters: Kathleen (Kenneth) Heard of Montgomery, AL; Beverley Cose (Ron Gefroh) of Karlsruhe, ND and Connie (Michael) Medearis of Pequot Lakes, MN; five grandchildren: Steven Heard of Daphne, AL; Dawn Cose-LaFountain (James) of Fargo, ND; Lacey (John) Holmen of Voltaire, ND; Kyle (Emily) Medearis of Baker, MT and Kelsi (Daniel) MacLaughlin of Brainerd, MN; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Vera and a brother Howard.
