Mavis A. King, 91, of Cando, N.D., passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Towner County Living Center in Cando, ND. Memorial Services will be on Friday, June 8th at 11:00 AM at the Cando Lutheran Church with Reverend Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Music will be provided by Joni Morlock ad Catherine Anfinson. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Cando, ND.
Mavis A. Strand, daughter of Edward and Pauline (Thomas) Strand, was born September 3, 1926, at Brinsmade, ND. She grew up on a farm where she did many chores including milking cows. She started attending school at Cando in 1932 and graduated from Cando High School. Mavis married Robert E. "Bob" King on December 17, 1944 at Cando, ND. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Cando until 1967. The couple later purchased Northern Motors Ford Dealership of Cando and operated it until retiring in 1982. Mavis also loved working at Morris Floral in Cando and enjoyed baking caramel rolls and buns for her family and delivering pies to many friends in the area. Mavis embroidered dishtowels for her entire family and was a great letter writer and still had great handwriting. She was a member of Cando Lutheran Church.
Mavis is survived by her son, Gordy of Cando; daughter Sherry K. (Tom) McKinnon of Worland, WY; grandchildren DaRinda (Rick) Trudel of Glyndon, MN, Radd (Kristine) Farbo of Eagle, ID, Nita (Lou) Piccioni of Eagle, ID, Trina (Jason) Whitehead of Boise, ID; nine great-grandchildren and a sister Lois Harrison of Detroit Lakes, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister Lorraine Quick.
