Obituary

Mildred B. Petersen, 90, Cando, ND passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Cando Lutheran Church with Rev. Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a family service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as casket bearers for Mildred will be her grandchildren:  Del Neidert, Donald Neidert, Josh Davis, Aaron Petersen, Dusty Barker, Nolan Rieder and Becky King.  Music will be from Joni Morlock and Catherine Anfinson. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cando, ND.

Mildred Krokan was born on October 1, 1921, in Bisbee, ND, the daughter of John and Minnie (Malmadahl) Krokan.  She attended rural school in the Bisbee area. She was united in marriage to Ernest Petersen on February 27, 1943 in Bisbee, ND. The couple bought a farm in rural Cando in 1947, where she continued to live until the time of her death.  Mildred was an active member of Cando Lutheran Church where she was active with quilting since 1987.  She taught Sunday School and Bible School in her earlier years. Mildred enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, baking and loved visits from family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mildred is survived by her children: Ronald Petersen of Cando, ND, Sharon Neidert of Crawford, NE, Arlene Goergen of Crawford, NE, Karen Miller of Conrad, IA and Joyce (Chuck) Kroll of Bagley, MN; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Gerald; twin brother: Joel; sisters: Clara Person and Tilda Church; and grandson: Jesse Davis.

Condolences:

Mildred Petersen, my Great Aunt, was a Wonderful, Sweet Lady and I only wish I had been able to spend more time with her. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
