Oline Delores Burkhart, 92, Cando, ND, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at the Towner County Living Center in Cando. Services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Christian Fellowship Church in Cando, ND at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Les Koenig officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home. Visitation on Saturday will be for one hour prior to the services at Christian Fellowship Church. Burial will be at the Zion Cemetery in rural Cando, North Dakota. Casket bearers will be Joe Brew, Gordon Nelson, Ron Finger, Curt Currie, Dan Burkhart and Doug Burkhart. Music will be provided by Laona Eggl and Catherine Anfinson.
Oline Harveland Burkhart was born to Nils and Alma Harveland in Hampden, ND on May 7, 1923. She attended school in Hampden where she loved playing basketball. She graduated in 1942.
On September 27, 1942 she married Dale Burkhart. To this union eight children were born. Delores Palmquist, Walnut Creek, CA; Dalene (Joe) Brew, Casa Grande, AZ; Rebecca Raddohl, Cando, ND; Ruthann (Ron) Finger, Sturgis, SD; Alice (G.R.) Nelson, Tulsa, OK; Debra (Curt) Currie, Minot, ND; Daniel (Linda) Burkhart, Thompson, ND; and Douglas Burkhart, Cando, ND.
Oline was a farm wife for many years. In 1965 she went to work at the US Post Office, retiring from there in 1985. She also worked at the Durum House, managed the Cando Golf Club and worked at Phil's Furniture. She enjoyed all these positions and did a great job.
Oline was well known for her amazing flower gardens and some called her yard the "Little Peace Garden". She spent many happy hours in her yard. She also was an amazing woman with a great sense of humor. She had a very strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which she shared with all who knew her.
Survivors include her eight children, 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandsons; sister, Martha Larsen, Devils Lake, ND; in-laws, Wayne and Marilyn Burkhart, Oregon; Lucille Lageson, Fargo and Della Parker, Hawaii; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Dale; son-in-law, Jay Palmquist; grandson, Michael Joseph Libberton; and great-granddaughters, Dalene Dawn Burns and Kathryn Oline Burns.
