Otto R. "Bobby" Nelson, 80, of Egeland, ND, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Towner County Medical Center. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Lakeview Lutheran Church in Egeland, ND with Pastor Rob Buechler officiating. Visitation will take place Friday, June 14, 2019 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando, ND. Visitation on Saturday will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Egeland, ND. Music will be provided by Elizabeth Berg.  Urn Bearers will be Otto's Grandchildren.  Honorary Urn Bearers will be Otto's Great-Grandchildren.

Otto R. "Bobby" Nelson was born March 11, 1939 in Cando, ND the son of Robert T. and Ruby (Krumwiede) Nelson. He grew up in the Egeland area and graduated from Egeland High School. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science for a year. He was united in marriage to Sharon Starr on June 20, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Perth, ND. He raised Aberdeen Angus Cattle since the 1960's. Otto showed animals for many years at the Valley City Winter Show, State and County Fairs and The North Star Classic. In 1998 he was awarded the North Dakota Angus Man of the Year Award. Otto enjoyed hunting and in 2008 he was lucky enough to be chosen a once in a lifetime moose license, which he got. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his family.

Otto was a member of the Egeland Senior Citizens, where he served as president, served as township officer for many years, 4H leader for many years, and served on the board of directors for the Towner County Historical Society. He was a member of Lakeville Lutheran Church.

Otto is survived by his mother Ruby Nelson of Rolla, ND; wife Sharon of Egeland, ND; children Thomas (Gloria) Nelson of Mooreton, ND; Michael (Kimberly) Nelson of Cando, ND; Jeffrey (Mary Ellen) Nelson of Bismarck, ND; Daniel( Fiance, Kayla) Nelson of Devils Lake, ND; grandchildren Benny, Cory Nelson & Erica Pajari, Brandon Nelson, Dusty, Bjork and Jessica Twiss, Jill Lagasse, Sara Dyrdahl. Caylee Nelson, Addie, Braxton and Henslee Nelson; great-grandchildren Shelby, Bentley and Rylen Pajari, Michael, Logan, Kaytlyn, Jase, Bjork, Bree and Brylee Dyrdahl, Bray and Keenan Twiss, Aroura, Zobias and Illyana Nelson. Sisters Katherine (Martin) McNurlin of Munich, ND; Connie (James) Schommer of Munich, ND; Anita (David) Barrett of Munich, ND and Valerie (Robert) Edwards of Rolla, ND.

Otto was preceded in death by his father Robert T. Nelson and daughter Brenda Lagasse.
