Richard Gibbens, 83, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Cando, ND, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at his home in Fargo.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Cando with Pastor Lori Broschat officiating.  The visitation will take place at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Richard was born in Cando on April 10, 1940, the son of Richard and Nellie (Robertson) Gibbens. He grew up in Cando and attended Cando High School where he participated in band and was an accomplished clarinet player. He graduated in 1958. He joined the North Dakota National Guard.  He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood. Richard spent his whole life as an over-the-road truck driver traveling to many areas of the United States. He lived in Illinois for a time, then moved back to Cando, and in 2010 moved to Fargo.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Luis) Navarrete of Warwick, ND; granddaughters, Lindsay Ann Navarrete and Lauren Jewel Navarrete of Warwick, ND; brother, Brad Gibbens of Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Joanne Gibbens of Cando; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Greg Gibbens.
