Obituary

Roberta Ellen Mundahl of Cando, ND, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Cando Lutheran Church in Cando, ND with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm family service at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the church service on Monday. Burial will take place at the Wolford Cemetery at Wolford, ND. Casket bearers will be John Kringler, Robert Kringler, Kevin Seehafer, Jeff Thorpe, Justin Klein, and Keith Gohdes. Music will be provided by Cathy Anfinson and Joni Morlock.

Roberta Ellen Kringler was born on July 3, 1947 to Robert and Ruth (Stensgaard) Kringler in Valley City, ND. She grew up in Buffalo, ND where she attended school graduating as valedictorian of the class of 1965. Roberta attended Valley City State University graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education. Roberta then attended the University of North Dakota to earn her Master's degree in the New School of Behavioral Studies. In 1970, Roberta was employed by the Cando Public School system to teach 5th grade. She would continue to teach in the school system until 1975. She retired to raise her family and to teach piano which was one of her passions.

In 1973, she was united in marriage to Curtiss Mundahl in the Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Buffalo, ND. The couple would continue to reside in Cando and there they enjoyed and contributed to the community and the can-do spirit. They would become a family of five with the addition of three daughters, Carrin, Carolyn, and Courtney.

Roberta enjoyed giving piano lessons to her many piano students over a 40-year period. She was a member of the Cando Arts Council where she served as secretary/treasurer for many years. Roberta was a member of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron and was presently the secretary/treasurer. She was an active member of the Futorian Club and the Towner County American Cancer Society. Roberta served as one of the church pianists for the Cando Lutheran Church and Cando Methodist Church.

Roberta enjoyed the arts, music, gardening, bird watching, reading, crocheting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed going to the Mundahl family farm and would look for special type of stones, flowers, rhubarb, asparagus, apples, plums, the different animals and the countryside sceneries. Roberta also enjoyed listening or watching the ball games of North Star, Ellendale, Devils Lake Girls Basketball and UND Hockey.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Curtiss Mundahl of Cando, ND; three daughters Carrin (Jeff) Thorpe of Ellendale, ND, Carolyn (Kevin) Seehafer of Minot, ND, and Courtney (Justin) Klein of Devils Lake, ND; four grandchildren, Hunter and Riley Thorpe, and Berkley and Blake Klein; two step-granddaughters, Megan (Dillon) Neuberger and Macy Seehafer; four siblings; Jennifer (Gary) Gillis, John Kringler, Mary (Keith) Gohdes, and Ruth (Mike) Fuller; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Kringler, sister-in law Jan Kringler, father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Blanche Mundahl and a brother-in law Orris Mundahl
