Ronald (Ronnie) Lawrence Phillipp, 74, of Rolette, ND, formerly of Bisbee, ND passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Rolette Community Care Center in Rolette, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rolette Community Care Center in Rolette with Fr. Petro Ndunguru officiating. Interment will be at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Bisbee, ND.

Ronnie entered this world on October 25, 1951. He found joy in the simple things, despite living with cerebral palsy and the inability to hear. His love for his family, his fascination with trains, and his delight in experiencing the world around him were made possible because his parents, George & Stella (Lang) Phillipp, chose to raise him at home.

Doctors were not optimistic about Ronnie’s ability to walk or communicate, but his determination proved stronger than any prediction. Through sheer will, he learned to walk independently and eventually made his way half a block from home each day to watch the trains rumble by. The vibrations beneath his feet brought him pure joy. Though the train conductors never met Ronnie in person, anyone watching could see the friendships formed through shared waves and bright smiles.

Ronnie grew up alongside his two sisters, Diane & Carla, who always looked out for their brother. Communication wasn’t always easy, but together they created their own system — pointing, gesturing, and using their hands in ways that became a language uniquely theirs. Before long, their large extended family caught on, and that special way of communicating became part of Ronnie’s world.

Although Ronnie never had formal schooling, he was observant, capable, and quick to catch on to the activities around him. Under the watchful eye of his dad, he learned to drive the yard lawn mower and took great pride in ending up with a — mostly — well‑cut lawn. His attention to detail extended to playtime with his nephews and nieces, whom he adored. One of his favorite games was walking his fingers across the table toward their plates, pretending he was about to steal their food. Their laughter filled the room, and Ronnie’s joy in those moments was unmistakable.

In his later years, Ronnie moved to the Rolette Community Care Center, a significant change for him, yet one he embraced with his characteristic warmth. He made friends easily, offering big hugs, bright smiles, and a laugh that could lift anyone’s spirits. The staff and residents cherished him.

On May 16, 2026, the halls of the Care Center fell silent as Ronnie passed peacefully into the hands of his Lord and Savior. This precious child of God will be deeply missed.

Ronnie is survived by his sisters, Diane (Dan) Johnson of West Fargo and Carla (Randy) Rost of Rolette; and by his beloved nephews and nieces — Eric (Kristi) Johnson & Kira; Cindy Johnson; Cassie (Jason) Murphy, Stella & Lincoln; Amanda (Brad) Brossart & Landon Rost; Rebecca (Nate) Pederson, Jackson, Claire, Aubree, Chase & Riley; and Kevin (Jessica) Rost & Mikayla, and many treasured family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Scott Rost.
