Rose H. Hermann, 57, of Cando, ND, formerly of Egeland, ND passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will take place Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cando, ND at 11:00 AM with Fr. Daniel Musgrave officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Music will be provided by Gladys Fluge and Tom Freund.

Rose was born on August 23, 1959 at St John's Hospital in Fargo ND to Andrew and Rose (Brunelle) Hermann. She was raised on the family farm in Georgetown, Minnesota, and graduated from Moorhead High school in 1977.
Rose married Jim Gudvangen in September of 1981. While they were married Rose was a loving mother to his children. After their divorce Rose moved to the Egeland, ND area where she met the love of her life Rick Thomas. Together they had three children, Sara, Brooke, and Richie. Rose worked as a manager at Cenex in Cando, ND until her and Rick opened Sportsman's Bar and Grill in Egeland, ND in 2000. In 2010 Rose and Rick retired from the business due to Rick's health. Rose took great care of Rick until his death in 2012. In 2014 Rose moved from the Thomas family farm to Cando where she worked at TCLC as a CNA and Heartview Foundation.
Rose was well known for her wonderful sense of humor and kept everyone laughing. She had a great love for horses and enjoyed life on the farm when she was young. Rose enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and trapping with Rick, her children, and grandchildren. She also loved to bake and cook, especially for her friends and family.
Rose is survived by her children: Sara Thomas (Brandon Padilla) of Cando, ND; Brooke Thomas (Zach Mears) of Leeds, ND and Richie Thomas of Cando, ND. Stepchildren: Maggie (Matt) Vold of Drayton, ND; Brett (Sierra) Thomas of Cando, ND and Brock Thomas of Cando, ND, step grandchildren, brothers: Jerry (Linda) Hermann of Georgetown, MN; Mike (Sheila) Hermann of St. Dubuque, IA; Charlie (Sherry) Hermann of Minto, ND; Bill (Mary) Hermann of Dilworth, MN; Tom Hermann of St. Thomas, ND; Richard (Lisa) Hermann of Moorhead, MN. Sisters: Mary (Ernie) Normandin of Crookston, MN; Karen Hermann (Lew Clefisch) of Moorhead, MN; Patty (Bernie) Audette of Cambridge, MN; Barb (Mark) Thompson of Moorhead, MN; Jean (Deon) Walton of Glyndon, MN
Rose is preceded in death by her soulmate Rick Thomas, and her parents.
