Rose Winnegge, 94, of Cando, ND, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cando, ND with Fr. Daniel Musgrave celebrating mass. Visitation will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil Service at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Casket Bearers will be Shannon and Travis Winnegge, Allen and Charles Belgarde, Liza Wayman and Barb Reed. Honorary Casket Bearers will be all her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Music will be provided by Gladys Fluge, Catherine Anfinson and the Sacred Heart Choir. Burial will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Cando in the spring.

Rose was born to Pius and Dorothy (Ripplinger) Heisler on January 10, 1926 in Rugby, ND. She graduated from the 8th grade and worked on her dad's farm and took care of the neighbor kids when needed. She moved to Minneapolis for a short time and returned to Devils Lake where she worked at a restaurant. Rose was united in marriage to Charles Winnegge on November 30, 1944 in Calio, ND. They lived in Butte, Montana and then returned to Cando, ND where she worked at the Towner County Living Center for 40 years. She took great pride in the love and attention that she paid to the residents. Rose later became a resident of Towner County Living Center in 2014 where she enjoyed playing bingo, doing arts and crafts, joining in with monthly activities and having coffee with friends and family.

Rose enjoyed dancing and traveling with Charlie. They spent lots of time in the summer in the pickup camper hitting the road with no real plan. Rose had a green thumb, which lead to her love of flowers and plants. She loved to watch her big goldfish named fish, swim in his tank. Grandma loved to make homemade noodles and Christmas cookies. She knew this would bring her family close to her as the grandkids would run to the oven to get the cookies out of the pan in the oven where she stored them. She never missed her favorite soap opera - Days of our lives while chewing her gum and completing her crossword puzzle. Rose also enjoyed time with her family camping and at other family gatherings such as birthdays and the holidays.

Rose is survived by her children Lloyd Winnegge of Cando, ND; Carol Belgarde of Belcourt, ND; Judy (Richard) Skalicky of Cando, ND and Mary Winnegge of Cando, ND: 11 grandchildren Christine (Dale) Reed of Grand Forks, ND; Shannon (Sheri) Winnegge of Langdon, ND; Travis (Kris) Winnegge of Horace, ND; Barb (David) Reed of Devils Lake, ND; Allen (Terri) Belgarde of Belcourt, ND; Jennifer Belgarde of Belcourt, ND; Charles (Savannah) Belgarde of Belcourt, ND; David (Jolene) Belgarde of Belcourt, ND; Liza (Cecil) Wayman of San Tan Valley, AZ; Tonya (Russel) Comer of Watford City, ND and Michael Paul. 18 Great-Grand-Children and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Brother Steve (Judy) Heisler of Cando, ND; Sisters Liz Hartl of Cando, ND; Annie Rader of Minneapolis, MN; Magdalen Meier Keck of Devils Lake, ND; Clara Rainsberry of Banning, CA and Delphine (Burt) Rader of Denver, CO. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband Charles; parents Pius and Dorothy Heisler; brother Matt Heisler; sisters Emelia Mattern and Francis Arnhold Katafias; daughter-in-law Barb Winnegge and son-in-law Clifford Belgarde.
