Sharon Ruth Lipp was born on September 11, 1940 to Ralph and Dorothy Lipp in Cando, ND. Sharon was raised in Cando and attended Cando Public High School, graduating in 1958. Sharon was married to Ray Roberts at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cando on August 30, 1958.
After farming in the area for a number of years, Sharon and Ray eventually moved into Cando and embarked on several successful business ventures, including Roberts Farm Equipment and Nodak Mutual Insurance. It is safe to say that Sharon was the behind-the-scenes secret to Ray's success.
Sharon, Ray, and the family traveled extensively by motorhome, and fished a good portion of the upper United States and Canada in pursuit of Northern Pike. Sharon was a fervent supporter of Cando Odnacs Hockey and rarely missed a game in which her son was playing. Sharon loved all the cats she had throughout the years and was a supporter of Uffda Fund Animal Rescue. Sharon was especially fond of the family cabin built by her father on the shores of Rock Lake, Manitoba. In her later years, Sharon spent the bulk of her time at the cabin, only returning to Cando to play bingo during the week. After all, bingo in Cando could hardly take place without Sharon and her sister/sidekick, Lois Ladwig, in attendance. It is not an overstatement to say Sharon was truly beloved by the community of Cando.
Sharon is survived by her children, Rita Palmer of Bismarck, ND and Darrin Roberts of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cathy, William, Dale, Jason, and Lori, step-grandson Freddie, and step-great-granddaughter Corey.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Dorothy Lipp, sister Lois Ladwig, and husband Ray Roberts.
