Obituary

Vera Ann Koistinen, 86, Rolla, ND, passed away peacefully on Monday 31 st , 2022 at the Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, surrounded by family.

Vera's celebration of life service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Rolla on Saturday, November 5 th at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Lori Broschat officiating. Visitation will be Friday, November 4 th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church. Carolyn Heller, Kami Burgess, Kaydee Koistinen, and Natalie Koistinen will provide music. Burial will be at the Hansboro Cemetery following the luncheon.

Vera was born October 19th, 1936, to Noel and Ethel (Parslow) Stapleton.  She was raised on the family farm east of Hansboro. After graduating from Hansboro High School, Vera married Loren (Pap) Koistinen on February 21, 1956, in Cando, N.D.

Vera was employed at Presentation Medical Center where she did laundry. She worked at the Hansboro Bar for several years and loved serving her customers. She was a social butterfly and made many lifelong friends locally and from Canada. She loved to play cards particularly pinocle, and always managed to find a way to win the game. Vera enjoyed traveling with Loren to his army reunions to visit his army buddies throughout the years. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.  Vera enjoyed spending many winters in Johnsonville, S.C. with her daughter Anne and in St. Paul Park, MN with her daughter Laurie. She loved spending time with her family and brought the family together many summers to celebrate the 4 th of July.

She is survived by 5 daughters: Pamela Koistinen of Hot Springs, MT, Laurie (Bryan) Azure of St. Paul Park, MN, Leah (Peter) Klingbeil of Langdon, ND, Cindy (Rick) Laverdure of Fargo, ND, Mary Jo (Scott) Delvo of Buxton, ND, 3 sons: Kenny (Shelly) of Rolla, ND, Blaine of Hot Springs, MT., and Blake (Carla) of Langdon, ND; 20 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.  Also surviving her are nieces Tami Castaneda of Santa Fe Springs, CA and Julie Fahrnkopf of Norwalk, CA, daughter-in-law Rita Stapleton of Sandpoint, ID, son-in-law Bob White of Johnsonville, SC, sister-in-law Margaret Koistinen of Rocklake, ND.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents Noel and Ethel Stapleton, husband Loren "Pap", sons Vance Stapleton and Michael Koistinen, daughter Anne White, sister Helen Fahrnkopf, and brother Duane Stapleton.
